Yesterday we finished school early for Easter. Gran and mum picked us up but Gran only took our schoolbags and mum, Jill and I walked home.

We walked home because mummy wanted to try out her new trainers. She got new trainers for Race for Life.

Now it's time for the competition. The question is how long do you think it took us to walk the one and a half miles between school and home? Please put your answers on a comment to this post. The deadline is when we go back to school.

A long journey for a good cause

Today mum made me her 'Race for Life' trainer. We walked for 3.2 kilometres from our house for our first walk.

We also went to Tesco which I know you are not supposed to do and we bought sweets. Sadly mum didn't like the mini jelly beans or the strawberry laces.

Today at mini rugby I scored my first try of the season. Chris passed me the ball and I put it down over the line. I wanted to do a happy dance afterwards but I didn't do it.

The final score in my match was 5-3 and my team won.

Residential

Tomorrow I am going with my class and my teacher on my first ever residential. I'm going for three days :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) .

We are going to :

make a patch work quilt
have a barndance (please don't ask who I'm going with LOL no seriously don't)

The Ulster 1999 match 10 years later!

Last Thursday mum and me went to see Ulster play the wooden spoon collection. It was a match for Charity.

We went because we missed the real Heineken cup final because it was 3 days after I was born. My dad and grandad were soooooooooooooooooooooooooo lucky cause they were at the real final.

When we went Ulster won 55 to 45 and that's very good. I loved it.

Tomorrow I am going to be 10 :-) and I am going to be the first person to become 10 while living in this house.

As a treat for my birthday, mum is taking me to see the Ulster team who won the European Cup 10 years ago (see last post) play a special match on Thursday. My all time favourite rugby hero David Humphreys will be playing!

Yesterday me and mum, Jill and Wils all went to watch Ulster V Harlequins at Ravenhill. The good thing was Ulster won, the bad thing was we got soaked like we had gone into a swimming pool with all our clothes on! But we were lucky that we didn't get evacuated like one of the other stands was because the Eventsec people thought it was going to collapse.

It was so cold that at the end of the match the players had to wear survival blankets to warm up.

I have been going to Ulster matches since I was about 4 years old. The first rugby match I watched was the 30/1/99 three days after I was born which was the final of the Heineken cup and Ulster won. I have had a season ticket for nearly 6 years.

Newtownbreda Gospel Hall

Yesterday I went to Newtownbreda Gospel Hall on a school trip to see a bible exhibition and when we were going round we had to write in the answers to a quiz.

There were lots of display boards showing you all about the bible, like what languages it was originally printed in (Greek and Jewish) and the lost Dead Sea scrolls and the story of Mary Jones who walked 50 miles to buy a bible.

We also got to read the bible in Jewish and Greek and it didn't make any sense to me. At my church I got a book about the bible and you read a page every night and when you read one you learn about a verse.

My Radio

Today I had an idea that I could start a radio station and it is called 'The Michael Cardwell Cardwell radio Station'.

My show was from about 11 o'clock until 2:15pm but there was a break in the middle when we had to go to Tescos and then had our lunch. My sister's show is from 2:15pm until 2:40pm.

Originally I had another radio show were I used walkie talkies, but I gave up because I had to keep the button pushed in all the time and it really hurt my thumb. When I went to dad and told him I was going to start a radio station he gave us a proper mixing desk like they use in radio stations.

It's a bit annoying staying in my room for the whole time because we forgot to open the window so it was very stuffy in there.

We have been playing music like McFly, Jonas Brothers, Mika, Abba, Busted and lots more. We had a compettion and mum won it.

On the bus

Today I was in town with my mum and Dolly shopping ( boring) . We were on the bus home and it broke down, apparently the steering broke! When the driver said the bus broke down everybody started laughing.

Then we had to get a new bus home. It took the new bus about 2 minutes to get there. When we were waiting for the new bus Mum and Dolly played I-spy.

In town today I got two books by Chris Ryan in Waterstones and a packet of matchattax football cards.

Sam Squirrel

In my back garden there is a grey squirrel that lives in one of the trees. As you can see in the picture he is quite a big squirrel.

He or she is called Sam. I called him Sam because it doesn't matter if it is a boy or a girl because Sam can be for either. We have seen him in the garden before but this is the first time we have got a photograph.

Today my sister saw him first when we were having lunch and then mum saw him and then I saw him. He was jumping from tree to tree. he was there for about five minutes and then our cat came and started stalking him so he ran away.

We are going to give Sam a Christmas present of some nuts.

We have another creature in our back garden called Francis the fox. But sadly we can't give Francis a present because I'm too scared!

The Slammy Awards are awards given out in WWE (Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment). Some of the slammys given out this year were:

Best tag team of the year:John Morrison & the Miz

Favourite match of the year: Shawn Michaels v Ric Flaire (career threatening match)

Favourite superstar of the year: Chris Jericho

I have been to see WWE once when they came to the Belfast Odyssey arena. I went with my dad and I loved it :) My dad thought it was a good show but he said it was kind of an act. He knew it was all put on, and so did I.

I saw my favourite wrestlers like Rey Misterio, Shawn Michaels and Batista.

Haka

The Haka is a war dance performed by the All Blacks, also known as the New Zealand rugby team. You can hear the haka being shouted in my music. Only the rugby teams from the South Sea Islands have a haka, and all the islands have different versions.

There is a haka that has been banned because they pretend to cut their throats with knives. They don't do it any more because some people in rugby thought it was too violent.

I've never seen a haka done live. I almost saw it live at the Under 19 Rugby World Cup in Dubai, when Ireland were playing Western Samoa, but we arrived at the match late because of traffic and missed it :-(

It doesn't matter if New Zealand are playing home or away, the reaction to the haka is incredible.
